Toshiba America Information Systems’ Telecommunication Systems Division has unveiled a new business IP telephone system called IPedge.

Comcast has reached an agreement with Skype to bring its HD video calling capabilities right into your living room television.

Vidyo has beefed up its telepresence portfolio with a solution called VidyoPanorama that delivers 1080p HD video at 60fps (frames per second), supporting multiple screens. The company estimates its new video communications system costs are up to 90% less than competing telepresence alternatives.

Converged business communications environments are increasingly comprised of a complex mix of VoIP, unified communications and SIP trunking technologies from a variety of suppliers. And whatever that mix is today, it is likely to change going forward.

Cisco this week rolled out two routers designed to allow service providers to migrate to IPv6 and more capably support video, mobility and cloud offerings.
